As I begin to write this, I am also pressing play on what is one of my most anticipated records of the year--Beau Navire's Lumens. Lumens is the follow up to--prepare for intense hyperbole here--2011's best screamo records, Hours, and one of the year's best albums over all. Beau Navire mix the best parts of Orchid/Saetia era screamo, while throwing in some more modern sensibilities as well. It's a mish-mash of the aformentioned bands, with some Ampere and Loma Prieta thrown in for good measure. In short, Beau Navire make choatic, passionate, and intense music that simply astounds.
Hours was a phenomenal record and sounds just as good one year later. Only a few songs into Lumens, and it looks like the band has once more struck gold. Beau Navire is a band to keep your eyes on, and one whose past material is definitely worth a look into. The band's latest record is up for streaming and is officially released on June 9.
